Après un long mois à subir la Colombie, vous n’imaginez pas à quel point nous avions hâte de nous en échapper.

Le Pérou nous tendait les bras, mais c’est non sans méfiance que nous atterrissions… Chat échaudé craint l’eau froide !

L’arrivée de nuit dans la capitale ne nous a pas permis de nous faire une idée de ce qui nous attendait. Seule certitude, comme partout en Amérique latine, le trafic routier est désorganisé et beaucoup trop dense. Il nous aura fallu près d’une heure pour rejoindre notre logement.

Fatigués par le voyage et épuisés moralement, nous avons été accueillis par le fils de la famille qui nous hébergeait. Enfin un sourire sincère et quelqu’un de vraiment gentil. Plutôt bon signe.

La découverte de la ville et de son ambiance

On sait très bien qu’une capitale n’est pas forcément représentative de l’ambiance d’un pays. Les gens y sont plus stressés, plus pressés qu’ailleurs. Pourtant, à notre grande surprise, nous nous y sommes sentis bien dès nos premiers pas.

Des boutiques dédiées à l’artisanat ont rapidement redonné le sourire à Margot. Les gens disent bonjour dans la rue, demandent pardon s’ils doivent passer, ne vous dévisagent pas tout au long de votre balade… Le bonheur. Aucune sensation d’insécurité, inutile de regarder dans toutes les directions à la fois, définitivement, un bon séjour nous attend.

Nous étions tous les deux en mal de découvertes culturelles, de visites de musée, de tout ce qui peut permettre d’en apprendre davantage sur le pays. Et bien, dès le premier jour, nous nous sommes retrouvés au beau milieu de ruines incas ! La ville compte un site archéologique, Huaca Pucllana, tout près du centre. C’est beau, un vrai contraste avec les maisons qui bordent l’ensemble. Son histoire remonte à plus de 1500 ans. Avant de partir, on apprend que ce site est longtemps resté enseveli, faisant penser qu’il ne s’agissait que d’une colline. Les gamins venaient y faire du vélo et jouer sur le terrain. Ce n’est que dans les années 60 que les fouilles y ont été engagées. Quand on voit l’immensité du lieu, on se demande comment c’est possible

L’ambiance étant agréable, on en profite pour flâner, pour se promener en arpentant le centre dans tous les sens. Durant les 5 jours, nous avons parcouru une moyenne de 10 Km par jour, c’est vous dire si on en a profité !

Miraflores et Barranco

Ces deux quartiers sont les principaux pôles touristiques. On y trouve des musées, des galeries d’art, plein de boutiques dédiées à l’artisanat local. Et dans les 2 cas, on peut accéder à l’océan. Et oui, nous avons enfin touché l’eau de l’océan pacifique !

On a aussi enfin retrouvé le plaisir de s’arrêter dans des petits restaurants pas chers. On en trouve partout. La nourriture locale est copieuse et surtout super bien préparée. Un régal.
Depuis le parc aux chats de Miraflores, jusqu’au pont des soupirs de Barranco, on a bien écumé la ville !

Le centre-ville

Comme dans toute capitale, le trafic y est étourdissant. Les bâtiments sont salis par la pollution, et à vrai dire, on n’a fait qu’y passer furtivement. Le contexte politique étant un peu mouvementé, des manifs empêchaient d’aller découvrir la cathédrale. Le seul truc que j’en retiens, c’est la densité de magasins d’instruments de musique qu’on y trouve. Je n’ai jamais vu autant de guitares de ma vie !
J’avais acheté une mandoline au Mexique, mais ça n’est définitivement pas mon truc. J’ai donc profité du passage au centre pour la vendre… J’ai fini dans des petites boutiques complètement improbables, où on trouvait de tous types d’instruments. Les gars réparent, fabriquent de tout. Il valait mieux ne pas trop y rester, j’aurai craqué !
Mis à part ça, je dois reconnaître que le centre-ville n’est pas exceptionnel.

Nos hôtes

Nous étions logés dans un Airbnb, dans un quartier un peu à l’écart. C’était calme, la maison était immense, et notre chambre avait même un bureau (alléluia !).

La famille qui nous a accueillis était vraiment adorable. Le fils travaille sur le net, il fait fabriquer des coques de portables personnalisées. Son petit business a l’air de plutôt bien tourner.
Roxana, la mère de famille, possède un petit business également. Elle fait des empanadas qu’elle vend à des collectivités. Elle a été adorable et prévoyante avec nous. On a chaque fois qu’on a pu discuter, elle s’est posée et a pris le temps de parler avec nous. Notre mode de voyage l’intriguait beaucoup, elle adorait l’idée.

Pancho, le père, est quelqu’un d’aussi curieux que bavard. Il m’a coincé 2 fois au réveil pour des discussions de plus d’une heure, et ceux qui me connaissent savent que je plutôt étanche le matin… Mais bon, il faut savoir faire des efforts ! Il est vraiment très drôle et possède un regard affûté sur la société péruvienne. Lui-même étant originaire de Bolivie, il m’a beaucoup parlé économie et politique. Très intéressant à chaque fois, même au réveil.
Ces gens ont été super avec nous. Très gentils, très serviables. Ils n’arrêtaient pas de nous donner des plans pour le reste du voyage. On les a d’ailleurs écoutés pour parfois faire des pauses plus longues que les tour-opérateurs proposent. Jusqu’à présent, on ne le regrette pas.
Bref, Lima nous a réconciliés avec le voyage et avec les gens. Oubliées la déprime et l’amertume de la Colombie, nous sommes à nouveau au top pour enchaîner les destinations et en prendre plein les yeux… Et vu ce que le Pérou recèle, c’est plutôt bien parti pour qu’on ne soit pas déçus !
